Original Composer: Nobuo Uematsu
Dancing mad is, IMO the single best boss-battle music ever. Someone has needed to do this arrangement for years. Well, virt did. The Impulse Tracker version of this song was his entry into the Ultima Eternity compo. The second I heard it I thought two things. 1) WOW, I REALLY want to hook up with this guy and do live guitars on this song. 2) I’m really glad this song isn’t in the same category as mine. So anyway, we became friends, and have been for years. Once I got the 7-string, and was able to physically play the song the way I pictured it in my head, I approached him about making a version with live guitars. He was cool with it, so I recorded all the guitar tracks over a guitar-less copy of his original, and passed it along for him to do his thing. This is what we got.
Technical stuff: Yes the guitars are live. Yes, I played all those parts. Yes, even that one. The sick part isn’t that I played them, though. The sick part is that I doubled nearly every lead in the song. It makes my brain hurt remembering how hard some of this stuff was to pull off. Also, I love the cheesy vocal sound and bossa nova section in the middle. We had meant to make the lead parts louder in the final mix as well, but virt lost the source files due to computer error (that or his cocker spaniel licked the hard drive platter the files were on). So we had to either let it die, release it as-is, or re-do pretty much the whole thing from scratch. We’re happy with it as-is, thank you.
